About Us

Managing Partner of Heman Properties
Brett Heman
Brett Heman grew up in Southwest Missouri, in a family that has always shown up for its community. His father runs a small auto glass shop; his mother has spent her career as a public school educator.
Brett followed his mother's path first, teaching in public schools before discovering an equally strong pull toward real estate and building. Eight years ago, that pull became Heman Properties, founded on a simple premise: every family in the community deserves housing that's clean, safe, and affordable.
What started as that premise has grown into a full portfolio spanning single-family, multi-family, commercial, and mixed-use assets. Heman Properties builds single-family homes for families to purchase, develops and holds multi-family rental properties, and invests in commercial and mixed-use projects. This includes a coworking space in downtown Monett, where the company partners with local stakeholders to strengthen the business climate. Every project, regardless of asset class, runs through the same lens: integrity and communication, quality craftsmanship, and intentional planning.
For Brett, building community isn't a tagline, it's the standard. It means designing subdivisions that feel like neighborhoods, not just developments. It means neighbors stopping to watch a project come together because they're proud of what's going up next door. It means building and maintaining properties his own family would be happy to live in or do business in, and leading his teams with the same character and honesty he'd want modeling for his own children.
Brett believes real estate done right doesn't just put roofs over heads or storefronts on Main Street, it revitalizes neighborhoods, grows the local economy, and gives people a reason to feel proud of where they live and work. That's the standard he holds Heman Properties to, across every asset class the company touches, and it's the same standard his parents held their shop and their classroom to, long before he ever picked up a hammer or a lease agreement.
Our Mission
At Heman Properties, our mission is simple: to provide clean, safe, and affordable housing for all. But for us, mission is just the starting point. Our vision — Building Community — is what guides every decision we make, from the materials we choose to the neighborhoods we choose to invest in.
We believe a house is more than four walls. It's where families grow, neighbors become friends, and communities take shape. That belief shapes how we plan, how we build, and how we show up — every project, every property, every time.
What Guides Us
Everything we do rests on three pillars:
+ Integrity and Communication — We lead with honesty, fairness, and professionalism, both with the families we serve and the teams we work alongside.
+ Quality Craftsmanship — We build homes we'd be proud to live in ourselves, because that's exactly the standard we hold for our residents.
+ Intentional Planning — We don't build by accident. Every project is a deliberate step toward stronger, more connected neighborhoods.
What Building Community Looks Like
You can see it in the details: subdivisions designed with a genuine neighborhood feel, outdoor spaces where families actually gather, and neighbors who watch projects come to life with pride rather than disruption. It's in how our construction teams carry themselves on-site — as examples of the same character and integrity we ask of ourselves.
This is what sets us apart from other development organizations in our area. We invest locally and concentrate our efforts for maximum impact. We look for strategic ways to improve neighborhoods, not just fill them. And we stay committed to properties that are clean, safe, and well maintained long after the work is finished.
The Impact We're Building Toward
When we build well, the effects reach far beyond a single property line. Revitalized neighborhoods. Economic growth. A renewed sense of community pride. Sustainable, common-sense development built for the long term — and the kind of growth that funds better parks, infrastructure, and services for everyone.
That's the difference between building houses and building community. At Heman Properties, we're committed to the latter.
